The product wasn’t the story.

Siderise develops specialist fire safety and acoustic solutions for the built environment. For decades, its reputation had been built on engineering expertise, rigorous testing and product performance. But in an increasingly competitive market, technical excellence alone was no longer enough to stand apart.

The brief was to create a product film. But the bigger opportunity was to uncover what made Siderise different and turn it into a brand story only they could tell.

Before exploring creative routes, I wanted to understand the business from the inside. So I stepped beyond the brief, spending time with the people, processes and thinking behind the products.

Discovery

The insight.

At Siderise’s Maesteg facility, we were given access to every part of the operation. We met people across the business, from senior leadership to the factory floor, asking questions, observing processes and understanding how products moved through production.

It quickly became clear that Siderise’s competitive advantage wasn’t simply its products or testing standards. Every stage relied on individual ownership. Nothing left the factory without someone personally checking it, reviewing it and signing it off.

What looked like a quality process was actually something much more valuable. It revealed a culture of accountability. That became the foundation of the creative idea.

The Insight

Bringing the story to life.

With the insight established, the next step was turning it into a story people would remember.

The film follows a Siderise employee who returns to the factory in the middle of the night to check a sign-off he believes he may have missed. When he discovers everything was already in order, we realise the real story isn’t about paperwork at all.

It’s about the kind of people who care enough to lose sleep over getting it right.

Only as he walks away do we notice he’s still wearing his pyjamas and slippers.

The Film

Making the invisible visible.

The finished film gave Siderise a way to express something that product specifications alone couldn’t: the culture behind the performance.

Rather than simply telling audiences that Siderise cares about getting things right, it turned that commitment into something they could see, understand and remember.
